Doctors & Therapists at Mind Therapy Clinic

Sierra Anderson, M.S., MFTI

Marriage and Family Therapist

Sierra received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from University of California, Santa Barbara and her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Dominican University in San Rafael, California. She joined the Mind Therapy Clinic in addition to her work at Serenity Knolls, a residential chemical dependency treatment facility in Marin County, where she has nine years of experience in working with families and individuals who struggle with and are affected by addiction. Previously, her internship training for MFT licensure, through Bay Area Community Resources and the Novato Youth Center, has given her the opportunity to work in an elementary school (Mary Silveira), high schools (Redwood and San Marin), and the family counseling clinic at the Novato Youth Center. Her therapeutic orientation is primarily Family Systems Theory with the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions. She finds that this approach gives understanding to the individual's experience in their family and how they interact in other relationships, as well as provides them with tools for change. At the Mind Therapy Clinic, Sierra offers individual, couples, family and group therapy for those who are new in recovery, as well as people experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, difficult life transitions including divorce, grief and loss, stress management, trauma, sexuality issues, unhealthy coping mechanisms and identity development.
