Specialist in the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring diagnoses

Dr. Julie Sauber is a licensed psychologist and clinical supervisor, holding a Psy.D. in clinical psychology and M.S. in counseling psychology. With nearly 20 years of experience in the mental health field, her work has been dedicated to helping adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are affected by substance use disorders and co-occurring diagnoses, such as PTSD, OCD, anxiety, panic, and mood disorders.

Dr. Sauber's main areas of interest and training include the treatment of co-occurring diagnoses, psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, expressive arts therapies, solution-focused therapy, attachment theory-informed therapy, and emotion-focused therapy for individuals, couples, and families. Dr. Sauber is also trained and certificated to provide cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of insomnia (CBT-I).

In 2018, Dr. Sauber was contracted to create the curriculum and programming for Kaiser Permanente Northern California's co-occurring diagnoses program at an Acadia Healthcare treatment facility in Sebastopol, CA. This comprehensive program offers a treatment track for Kaiser-referred patients, and provides weekly psychiatric evaluations with Siyan Center, bi-weekly therapy sessions, weekly DBT, CBT, Seeking Safety and process groups, and treatment planning. This dynamic program continues to flourish and grow with the current clinical team at Azure Acres residential treatment center.
