Treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) can seem like a daunting task to many clinicians as this disorder has historically been highly stigmatized. However, there are several evidence based treatments available today to treat BPD effectively in outpatient settings. This training will focus on distilling the therapeutic interventions that we know work and practically discussing how to use them effectively in outpatient settings.

About our Presenter
Katy Tarella, LCSW, is Clinical Director of Mind Therapy Clinic and brings her expertise in borderline personality disorder treatment to clients in the Bay Area from her previous position at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. Her focus on both learning from and collaborating with the foremost experts in the field of treating personality disorders has shaped Katy’s clinical approach to be a curious and engaged observer, and a life-long learner. Her therapeutic work is truly with her clients, and she values the experience of doing the work together – exploring and addressing the broad range of life experiences from struggles to triumphs.
Katy is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (DBT-PTSD), MBT for families, and General Psychiatric Management (GPM). Her integrated therapeutic approach allows her to extend flexibility with each client in understanding and treating their particular needs.
Katy holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons College, in Boston, MA and her post-graduate training was completed at McLean Hospital’s Borderline Personality Disorder Training Institute. In her free time, you can find Katy spending time with her two Bernese Mountain Dogs, trying to master the perfect sheet of brownies, or olympic weightlifting as her form of exercise and mindfulness.

Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund. Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event. Cancellations will be accepted (in writing) via email and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. All refund requests must be made by the attendee or credit card holder.
