After finishing his Psychiatry residency at UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Reeves went on to complete Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Reeves has particular expertise in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and schizophrenia (and related illnesses). The treatments he provides include medication management, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), Suboxone/Buprenorphine maintenance therapy or Vivitrol for Opioid Addiction relapse prevention, detoxification for withdrawal, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions.
Dr. Reeves is an expert psychopharmacologist - the person other psychiatrists turn to for psychopharmacology advice. While he may be an advanced psychopharmacologist, he also believes in utilizing medications only when necessary and continuously monitoring to determine whether a medication needs to be continued or can be stopped. Moreover, he is highly skilled in the selection of medications with the absolute minimum of long-term side effects.
Dr. Reeves has long been fascinated with, passionate about, and involved in research into cutting edge neuromodulation technologies that have no long-term side effects. During his residency at UCLA, he did research with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), including novel techniques such as deep TMS and paired-pulse TMS. He is thrilled to be able to offer TMS, a very exciting and promising treatment option, to patients at Mind Therapy Clinic.
Dr. Reeves continues to teach, lecture, and publish on a wide array of psychiatric topics when he is not working with his patients at Mind Therapy Clinic. He also has a regular meditation practice that he has found very beneficial for his psychological wellbeing, and his practice informs his use of mindfulness and other meditation interventions. In his free time, Dr. Reeves also enjoys spending time in nature, reading, enjoying film and music, and lifelong learning.
